来自五条港的洪老板,早年是位渔夫,一旦出海捕鱼就是好几天的功夫了,而那些海上的日子造就了洪老板烹煮海鲜的底子。加上后来搬到百家利居住并在此拜师学艺一年之后,洪老板在2005年成立了“五条港海鲜饭店”,并从开始时的一家中间店铺搬到了如今的角落店铺。

据洪老板所言,早年拜师学艺时,他主要负责炒鱼。相较于当年鱼类普遍蒸煮的方式,炒鱼是一门新奇的烹调方式。成立“五条港海鲜饭店”时,老板便以炒鱼作为“镇店之宝”,并研发了其他海鲜菜色。但与洪老板的谈话中,可见他仍然对鱼“情有独钟”,对鱼类的烹煮方式也非常讲究。不是每一种鱼都适合炒,所以蒸鱼和咖喱鱼也是本店的招牌菜色。浓郁入味的酱汁和咖喱更为新鲜的鱼肉增添不少香气。当然,都标明“海鲜饭店”了,其他海鲜类又怎么甘心让鱼儿抢尽风头呢?香脆的妈蜜炸苏东仔和咸蛋虾姑(濑尿虾)绝对不甘示弱,是本店熟客们的必点之菜。

如今来到由两位儿子掌厨的洪老板被问到他是如何抓住络绎不绝的食客们的味蕾时,他的答案出奇简单,那就是让食客们品尝到“家乡的味道”。

Restoran Sungei Lima, a well known seafood restaurant in Berkeley, famous for its various seafood dishes. Among them, the fried fish is probably the signature dish on their menu. Back when most seafood restaurants were serving steamed fish, Restoran Sungei Lima bucks the norm by serving fried fish, which turned out to be hugely popular. Nevertheless, steamed fish and curry fish is served here too, along with other seafood dishes including prawn, mantis prawn, crab, clams etc.
