与百家利新地标99Speedmart大楼咫尺之遥的99海鲜饭店,是百家利其中一家历史最悠久的海鲜饭店,前身为一家小贩中心,老板于1993年接手后才转型成为一家饭店。主打海鲜,是为了迎合一些不嗜吃猪肉的顾客(当年许多华人餐馆以猪肉菜色为主),也让百家利人有除了肉骨茶以外的另一个选择。

老板说道,这里的蒸鱼,可是由一位特定蒸鱼师傅专门负责的哦 !放眼望去,顿时明白为什么餐馆内几乎每一桌都出现了这道招牌蒸鱼肉。此外,“出镜率”挺高的还有咖喱鱼头和菜脯炒鱼,可说是“桌桌有鱼”。而乍看之下与市面上较普遍的虾姑颇为相似“咸蛋虾婆”,体积比虾姑大,咸香脆口的外层裹着肉多汁甜的虾婆,也是许多老顾客们的必点之菜。

与许多海鲜饭店不同,这里的厨房设立在本角落店面的扩建凉棚下,空间宽敞,阳光充足,打破了我们对海鲜餐馆厨房充斥着油烟且空气不流通的既定印象。食客们随时可以看见掌厨的老板儿子及其他厨房助手们在半开放式的厨房“大展拳脚”。临走前好奇地指着对面的99Speedmart大楼向老板问到99海鲜饭店和99Speedmart便利商店是否有关系时,幽默的老板说“有啊!是百家利老邻居的关系。”这答案充分展现了百家利老社区的人情味。

Established in 1993, 99 Seafood Restaurant is one of the earliest seafood restaurants in Berkeley. Steamed fish, a staple on their menu, take one look around and you’ll realize the dish is appearing on literally every table. It’s the lure of the signature dish here. Those who fancy other fish dishes could try the fish head curry or fried fish as well. Other seafood options include the salted egg crayfish, which is meatier than the mantis prawns we are more accustomed to.
